Sewing Circle

Learn sewing basics and make many friends.

Designed for migrant women who are recently arrived in Australia, the group is a way to learn a new skill, meet new friends and learn conversational English. Our current group consists of ladies from Papua New Guinea, Australia, Africa, Phillippines, Russia and South Sea Islands.

Basic sewing skills are taught. The volunteer tutors have many years of experience and lots of skills to impart to the participants. We are fortunate to have volunteer tutors and community members continue with the group every year.

Although there are some sewing machines available to use, participants are encouraged to bring their own, as this develops knowledge of their own machine.

Classes are held most Thursday afternoons between 12.30pm and 4.00pm at the Neighbourhood Centre. Tea/coffee is provided.

If you are interested in learning basic sewing, getting to know your machine, making new friends and of a migrant background, or would like further information, please contact Patti on 41531614.
